Reentry Programs in Iowa

Iowa Department of Corrections: In the light of how comprehensive supports including addressing substance and alcohol abuse, education and employment training and responsive case management can help enhancing public safety and reduce recidivism rates; the Iowa Department of Corrections was founded as a statewide reentry system. This program’s members work as stakeholders to make the local community a safer place.

Bridges of Iowa : The Bridges of Iowa acknowledges the key factor in transitioning successfully incarcerated individuals and reducing eventual recidivism rates is obtaining and maintaining employment. This not only helps ex-offenders pay their past debts and legal fees but also make them self-sufficient and productive members of the society.

Central Iowa Works: The Central Iowa Works works as an agency bringing relevant employers and employees together to narrow the skills gap and help the employers hire the high qualified workers. This program addresses and resolves the career issues by training employers and promote their professional development.

Catholic Charities: The Catholic Charities Outreach Program believes the offenders and ex-offenders are the most vulnerable and under-privileged in terms of social attention and individual assistance given by the contemporary social justice system. Through its vast network of organizations and volunteers, the Catholic Charities strive to prepare these individuals in transitioning back to their community.

Mental Health Reentry Program: The Mental Health Reentry Program works with high level intensive care service especially directed towards parolees with chronic mental illnesses, most of whom are diagnosed with severe substance abuse. HIgher level of care and service ensures lower rate of recidivism and optimal impact.

Reentry Aftercare: An integral part of Nebraska’s Inmate Community transition Initiative, the Reentry Aftercare program is a non-for-profit organization of which foundation lays on the willing co-operation among the vast volunteer network, government organizations and faith-based organizations.
